Finance Director

In this role, you will report to our SVP of Finance and be responsible for a variety of functions, including: financial planning, forecasting, reporting and analysis. You will develop and maintain long-term strategy for the PTC's  Finance function and be a complete business partner to senior management.

 

Budgeting, Forecasting & Variances Analysis

 

·  Budgeting: Drive the annual budgeting process. Set the Corporate planning calendar and procedures. Drive functional/field budgeting process in sync with corporate process. Ensure timely and successful development and deployment of corporate plan.

·  Revenue/Expenses Forecasting: Develop accurate quarterly forecast every month (revenue and expenses). Maintain watch list of key items.  Liaise extensively with the field contacts to develop and maintain visibility to revenue and expenses.

·  Variances Analysis: For each fiscal month close process, drive analysis of variances between actual and forecasted/budgeted numbers. Discuss findings with senior management to drive appropriate business actions.

·   Educate functional management teams on P&L impact of business decisions.

·   Perform detailed revenue analysis; prepare and report on key revenue metrics including seats, ASP, top customers, and average deal size.

·   Perform detailed analysis of key expense line items; understand and explain variances to plan and provide recommendations for future cost savings.

· Provide independent, objective business advice on business planning topics and on potential business decisions.

 

Functional Management Reporting

· Ensure functional management is provided with standard financial reporting that helps create a management information “control panel”

· Develop and communicate to functional management monthly and quarterly reporting packages.  Review functional management reporting with Int’l RFT teams

· Develop and publish key operating metrics for business

· Use reporting packages and operating metrics to drive focus on core business issues to drive business decisions/actions around those issues; coordinate the operational implementation of the decisions/actions

· Provide ad hoc reporting addressing emerging business issues

· Drive quarterly operating review cycle in conjunction with operations counterparts 

· Participate in Corp initiatives to drive standard enterprise-wide reporting environment.

· Providing quarterly internal and external financial reporting and assist in the preparation of the forecasted P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow

 

Business Controllership

· Ensure that functional area operates in a controlled environment

· Interface with accounting and business organization to drive resolution on PTC revenue recognition issues and ensuring adherence of guidelines and policies (VSOE)

· Drive achievement of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance including closing control gaps and monitoring/controlling process changes

· Identify and actively help functional management control expense levers as appropriate, e.g. headcount, POs, travel policies, accruals, etc.

· Working with accounting and operating functions on definition and maintenance on key global processes

· Operational reviews to achieve target performance



Project Management

·  Provide a complete business partnering role to the senior organizational management including decision support and high level business dialog

· Projects to be identified and defined in liaison with senior functional management or senior finance management

· Own achievement/successful completion of projects, including process and systems change

 

Requirements

· 10 - 15 years experience in Finance and Accounting, preferably in a Corporate Planning role. 

· Undergraduate degree (preferably in finance or accounting)

· CPA or  MBA strongly preferred but not required
