Position Description:

Overview:
· The Audit Consultant will serve as a member of the Corporate Audit Services Department of Genworth Financial.
· The position will be based in Richmond, VA.· Travel will be required. It is anticipated that travel will range from 25% to 50%, dependent upon assignments and business demand. Some travel may be international.
· This position will report administratively to a Senior Manager. We utilize a pooled staffing concept, so the opportunity exists for the successful candidate to work on various projects across multiple Genworth Financial business units and for different management personnel.

Responsibilities:
· Plan and support internal audit efforts, including operational, financial, and compliance audits.
· Execute audit projects within prescribed time budgets and at a high degree of quality.
· Work collaboratively with other assigned audit personnel and key members of management to achieve engagement objectives.
· Ensure high quality audit results and well-crafted audit report deliverables.
· Assist in the development of short-term and long-term audit plans for Audit Services through risk assessment activities.
· Build and maintain effective client relationships.
· Execute internal audits
o Plan engagement logistics, including scope and approach.
o Assist in risk assessment and audit planning.
o Conduct audit interviews.
o Prepare/review process flows and identify key controls.
o Perform internal controls design and effectiveness testing.
o Develop written audit programs and related audit workpapers.
o Prepare audit reports.
o Perform audit follow-ups.
· Conduct annual risk assessment
o Interview senior and executive management.
o Facilitate the development and maintenance of an audit risk universe specific to enterprise risks and operating areas.
o Identify key risks for the various business units.
o Assist in the development of an annual audit plan that addresses these risks.
o Maintain current knowledge of matters impacting the industry and the Company.

BASIC CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four (4) year degree in business, accounting or other applicable field.
· Two (2) or more years of relevant audit work experience
· Demonstrated project management experience.
· Ability to travel (will range from 25% to 50%, dependent upon assignments and business demand. Some travel may be international).

PREFERRED CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
· Internal and external auditing experience.
· Financial services and insurance industry experience.
· Advanced degree, such as an MBA.· CPA and other applicable certifications (e.g., CISA, CIA, PMP, FLMI, CLU, etc.).
- Ability to reason logically, analyze and evaluate data and information, and draw appropriate conclusions.
· Ability to apply auditing protocols.
- Ability to assess and determine risk impacts.
· Excellent oral communication and writing skills and demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of management.
- Demonstrated functional accounting or auditing knowledge and technical skills.
