Landfill Field Technician

As a member of the sampling team, prepares for and executes gas and water monitoring requirements in accordance with established sampling protocols. Assists with calibration of sampling equipment, preparation of sampling kits, collection of quality control and field samples, and generation of chain-of-custody forms for all samples. Assists with data manipulation and analysis necessary for development of recurring landfill reports. Coordinates all efforts associated with sampling and reporting with the SRS Landfill Compliance Manager. Assists in maintaining landfill operations in compliance with environmental laws and regulations, landfill permits, and Vandenberg management plans. Maintains facility compliance with hazardous materials and hazardous waste requirements. Operates and maintains the Groundwater Extraction System in accordance with the system operating manual. Assists with scale house operations, including data entry into the Landfill Tracking Database for waste disposal and diversion totals, maintaining records and documents, and general cleaning and maintenance duties at the scale house.

 

Qualification Guidelines: 

Bachelor’s degree, or high school diploma or GED w/ 4 years experience in technical support, preferably involving environmental management. Experience in field sampling and/or certified lab analysis and reporting. Proficient in report generation using Microsoft Office products, Access database experience preferred.
