Environmental Inspector

Job Purpose:

Perform environmental inspections of all the area facilities, including, but not limited to process units, maintenance operations, warehouses, permitted hazardous waste storage areas, less-than-90-day storage areas, and satellite accumulation areas. 

Duties:

*  Perform and document environmental inspections in accordance with inspection procedures and checklists.


*  Assist in the development and modification of environmental inspection procedures and checklists.



*  Assist with outside (e.g. federal, state, and local) environmental inspections in support of ANCDF environmental compliance objectives.


* Become thoroughly knowledge of the facilities environmental permits and requirements.


* Function as the primary environmental resource for operations, maintenance, and other personnel on their assigned shift.



* Performs hazardous waste worker duties in permitted or regulated facilities. Duties may involve one or more of the following: Movement, containerization, storage, identification, record keeping, emergency response and/or disposing of hazardous waste. 


Skills/Qualifications:



Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations, with emphasis on hazardous waste treatment storage, disposal, and transportation requirements.

High school graduate or G.E.D.

BS Degree in engineering or science field is desired.

If candidate possesses a BS degree, must have 1 to 2 years experience in an environmental capacity and must be familiar with environmental regulations.

If candidate has no degree, must have 5 years experience as an environmental inspector or auditor.

All candidates must have knowledge and/or experience in hazardous waste management and hazardous material handling.

Experience in hazardous waste management required.

Process operations background desirable.
