MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

Job Purpose:

Manufacturing/Quality Engineers Develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying automotive parts defects, writing work instructions, developing work flow processes, and by training a team of quality Inspectors/Rework Technicians to effectively manage the quality issues. Must have the ability to supervise personnel, and train all team members effectively.



Duties:

* Evaluates manufacturing processes; applying knowledge of product, assembly, tooling, and materials.


* Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and layout. *Engineers also Provide time studies, and develop one-piece-flow processes for quality inspection/rework projects. (Could have up to 20 new projects per day per area of assignment)

* Assures parts are inspected properly by training inspectors/rework technician adequately quality by establishing standards, and training methods.

* Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, and writing work instructions and rework procedures. And collecting data for customer engineers to ensure part inventories are at the proper levels.


* Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests of customers, and supplier quality engineers. 


* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.



Skills/Qualifications:

Must have a four year engineering degree or 5 years of equivalent experience in automotive quality area.  Must be able to Deal with Multiple quality issues, to begin multiple new quality inspection & rework procedures daily. Supervision of up to 12 quality inspectors/rework technicians per each shift, preparing reports, writing work instructions. Communicating with both home office and on site managers/engineers and customer engineers about quality related issues. Dock audits and corrective action experience helpful. Those candidates who recently graduated from engineering school may be eligible for our AQE program. On the job training program to become a QE over a period of one year.
