We are seeking Safety Program Coordinators for our Safety, Health and Claims department throughout our Service Territory in California. Positions are located in San Francisco, Santa Rosa, Fresno and Stockton – please indicate your desired location when applying.
Safety Program Coordinators (SPC)
Responsibilities:
Consulting with and Supporting Lines-of-Business (LOBs):
Integrates safety standards into all practices and processes, for assigned LOBs, by coaching supervisors and employees on their roles and responsibilities in relation to implementation and administration, serves as a resource for implementation of Safety Compliance Guidance, serves as a consultant for the application of behavior-based Safety Programs, collaborates with LOB management to plan content of organizational safety meetings, and participates by delivering system-wide Safety messages and reporting on Safety information that affects their organizations.
Supporting Safety & Health Assessments and Creating/Implementing Corrective Action Plans (CAPs):
Collaborates with Supervisors to perform incident investigations. Documents investigation results and corrective actions using the on-line ROII system for approval by the respective supervisor and/or management personnel, partners with Supervisors and employees receiving follow-up information and updates on corrective actions from incident investigations, near misses, Hazardous Condition Reports, internal assessments, inspections, and/or audits, to evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions that have been implemented, and identify any new hazards that have been created as a result of these actions, monitors and communicates standardized operational performance measure/metrics, and supports implementation of corrective actions to address deficiencies, designs and/or delivers responses to unique, organization-specific problems/issues. Serves as technical expert whenever OSHA inspections are conducted at their facilities.
Coordinating Programs:
Serves as Program Coordinator for specific Safety & Health Programs (e.g., Hearing Conservation, Asbestos, Respiratory, Lead, Safety @ Heights, Ergonomics, etc.), as applicable.
Communicating and Advising LOBs on Standards, Metrics, Quality Issues, and Continuous Improvement:
Participates in LOB meetings to continually enhance his/her understanding of assigned LOBs business direction, priorities, initiatives, etc., and monitors/tracks required inspections and conducts field/facility assessments, to identify specific hazards and CAL OSHA issues, attends a minimum of two classroom-delivered training sessions per quarter to evaluate training, answer questions, and provide feedback to training partner(s).
Serving as a the Safety & Health Risk Representative:
Serves as a member of the Safety & Health Risk Assessment Team, analyze trends, conduct root cause analyses, create corrective action plans, etc. Takes an active role in overall performance management and professional development, e.g., taking Safety classes and certifications, certified Safety Professional (CSP) credentialing, and continuing education.
Essential/Required:Be able to perform field visits and provide technical expertise and guidance to supervisors and employees in the field3+ years of related experience administrating safety programsBachelor of Science Degree in Safety and Health or a related field, or equivalent field background and experienceThis individual must be able to comfortably, effectively and freely function and move about in the field. (i.e. traverse uneven areas, climb and descend hills, enter and exit canyons or valleys, etc.), this includes traveling to the field in a vehicle, lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs. for short or medium distances, climb ladders, scaffolds, enter underground or sub-surface enclosures or excavations, enter and exit different types of company vehicles and equipment, ride in bucket truck basket to evaluate safety and health issues (this includes being able to enter and exit a bucket truck basket), and be comfortable with heights or elevated areas
