Position Description:

The Pittsburg & Midway Coal Mining Co. is accepting online applications for the position of Operations Manager (0610-50159335) located in Berry, Alabama through October 20, 2006.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Direct all underground and surface Operations activity at North River Mine. Direct reports include the Continuous Miner (CM) Manager, Longwall (LW) Manger and Outby (O/B) Manager the Surface Manager.


Qualifications:

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for underground mining operational activities, achieving BP objectives in a manner consistent with OE principles and processes. Assure that Health and Safety of all employees is always maintained. Responsible for Surface Operational activities, coal preparation, shipping, meeting customer needs in a manner consistent with OE principles. Administration of labor contract, assure that efficient, fair and consistent practices are followed. Assurances that the assets of the Company and protected and commercial opportunity maximized, consistent with OE principles and practices. Organizational capability is maximized to allow for current and future opportunities for the company. Training and development opportunities are maximized consistent with OE principles and processes. As a member of the mine Leadership Team, participate in the planning and governance of the North River Mine.

SPECIAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS OR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS/INFORMATION:
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to candidates with 15 years of supervisory coal mining experience with increasing responsibilities.
- Relocation benefits will be considered.
- This is a safety sensitive position.

Integrates input from customers and suppliers into plan development. Communicates and deploys plans to all levels and work units of the organization.
• Achievement: Develops action plans to achieve goals. Modifies systems and processes to improve performance. Reprioritizes work quickly to meet changing demands, strategies and situations
• Process Management: Continually seeks innovative ways of doing things. Identifies and defines key work processes and their linkage to each other. Identifies root causes of problems. Develops workable solutions.
• Experience: 10 years experience in longwall coal mining. Alabama Mine Foreman papers required or at least have the ability to obtain them. Proficiency Microsoft Office products. Experience in other mine software systems preferred, JDE, SAP etc.
