Market (Power) Risk Analyst

Summary : Analyze market risk of energy trading firm

Duties
 Generate and distribute daily risk reports to management.
 Maintain, back test and refine VaR and stress models.
 Identify, research and produce new risk measures.
 Perform VaR scenario analysis upon request.
 Ensure proper disaggregation of risk
 Research and code option models.
 Build tools for historical price analysis
 Consult with traders and analysts on risk
 Other projects and related duties as assigned.

Required Skills
 Knowledge of risk analysis in the energy markets – including derivatives, option valuation, option sensitivities, Monte Carlo VaR, currencies, interest rates and credit.
 Proficiency in Excel, Visual Basic and Matlab.
 Demonstrated ability to think creatively and critically.
 Proven statistical, spreadsheet and simulation skills.
 Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
 Demonstrated willingness to challenge established practices and create improved processes.
 Capacity to manage multiple projects and understand impact across corporation
 Ability to interact with a diverse group of traders, analysts and managers.
 Demonstrated self-motivation in an unstructured environment.
 Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Experience
Experience

General requirements :
 Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering or Mathematics required.
 MBA or MS in Finance preferred.
 Minimum of two years experience in market risk analysis.
 Two years experience in energy trading industry a plus.

Technical requirements :
Knowledge of risk analysis in the energy markets – including derivatives, option valuation, option sensitivities, Monte Carlo VaR, currencies, interest rates and credit.
 Proficiency in Excel, Visual Basic and Matlab.
 Demonstrated ability to think creatively and critically.
