HYDRO GENERATION SUPERVISOR

 

Responsibilities:

·  Operate the watershed safely and reliably while meeting declaration commitments. This includes the direct supervision of hydro personnel, generation units and their ancillary equipment, and switching center.

 

·  Use appropriate leadership and management styles to develop employees and support teamwork between operations and maintenance locally as well as throughout Power Generation. Must understand the labor agreement and use it effectively.

 

·  Must execute and understand all license conditions and other regulatory requirements. Ensure the hydro system is operated in a manner that meets these requirements and prevents violations. Develop good relationships with local regulatory representatives and the general public. Actively participate in re-licensing discussions to ensure that operational needs are met.

 

·  Maximize the financial contribution of the watershed. Risks (safety, environmental, regulatory, equipment, financial) must be identified and managed to protect the corporation and maximize asset value.

 

·  Provide key input to the strategic investment process as a result of problem identification. Utilize work management (SAP) and other tools to support effective management of the watershed assets and resources.

Essential/Required:

·  5+ years experience in electric power production or transmission/distribution operations

·  Proven strong leadership skills

·  Absolute commitment to safety

·  Ability to work well in a team environment

·  3+ years supervisory experience

·  Strong oral and written communication skills

·  Good Microsoft Outlook and Word skills

·  Ability to work and drive effectively in all weather conditions.

·  Ability to work effectively with the physical requirements of the work site, such as climbing multiple stairs and working in rugged areas

·  Ability to work near energized and rotating equipment

·  Valid driver’s license

·  Ability to be on call for emergencies to assist in 24/7 work environment


Marginal/Desired:

·  Bachelor’s degree in engineering

·  Registered profession engineer
