Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Safety Advisor
Location:

Relocation Options:

The HSE Safety Advisor will play a key role in advising management regarding health and safety (H&S) programs that satisfy the regulatory and business needs of BP. They will be responsible for developing and implementing safety programs, developing and implementing a H&S management system and providing technical H&S support. In this role, the HSE Safety Advisor will participate in incident investigations, hazard assessments and conduct regulatory required H&S training.
Accountabilities Include:
Serve in an advisory capacity to both the line and the BP Alaska extended leadership team.
Provide expertise to effectively challenge current policies/standards and to develop new techniques or approaches.
Provide safety support and coaching for the BP Anchorage work force as well as safety guidance for the facilities management team within the Anchorage campus.
Serve as a root cause specialist and trainer for incident investigations within Alaskan operations.
Develop/conduct safety training programs for the workforce.
Develop/write H&S data, reporting trends and provide consultation regarding corrective action measures.
Analyze H&S data, reporting trends and provide consultation regarding corrective action measures.
Influence the workforce H&S culture by supporting the Anchorage Safety Training Observation Program (STOP) as well as advanced safety auditing and the behavioral based safety programs currently used in BP North Slope operations.
Coordinate and ensure the completion of the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP)) annual self evaluation reports required by our Alaskan operations participating in the State of Alaska and federal OSHA VPP programs.
Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the role of HSE Safety Advisor applicants must have:
Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than your current employer.
A minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering/Engineering Technology, Science or a related technical field or a Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety and Fire Protection.
The willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time in order to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
A minimum of 5 years of experience as a safety professional with strengths in industrial safety behavioral based safety and health.
Good data management skill, including the ability to gather/analyze large volumes of data.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the required qualifications the successful candidate is likely to be able to demonstrate:
An Associated Safety Professional (ASP) certification, Occupational Health & Safety Technician (OHST) or Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) certification or other safety or health related certifications such as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
Experience in the oil industry, specifically exploration and production.
A strong HSE focus and commitment.
