Electric Supervisor

We are seeking multiple electric supervisors for locations throughout our service territory in northern and central California, including several openings Bakersfield, CA.

 

Electric Supervisor

 

Responsibilities:  Supervisors are primarily responsible for overseeing the installation and repair of overhead and underground distribution and transmission power lines, as well as vaults and conduit for the electric underground distribution system. This position is also responsible for performing other related duties as required.

 

Essential Functions:

 

· SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP:  Lead workgroups of large size, spread over a wide geographic area. Actively supervise construction personnel, observing and coaching employees in the field. Communicate clear expectations to the work group and monitor results by utilizing performance management techniques. Develop the business knowledge and technical skills of field employees. Foster teamwork with all other Company work groups.

 

· PRODUCTIVITY/EFFICIENCY:  Monitor workgroup productivity and ensure effective utilization of resources. Identify and pursue productivity improvements to reduce costs.

 

· QUALITY:  Directly observe and coach employees on quality of work. Verify in the field that completed work meets our construction standards.

 

· CUSTOMER SATISFACTION:  Ensure that customer’s needs and expectations are met and ensure effective customer communications.

 

· SAFETY:  Actively observe and coach employees regarding safe work practices. Demonstrate by communications and personal actions, 100% commitment to employee and public safety. Knowledge of applicable safety rules, programs and safe work practices. Conducts training as required, facilitates weekly Stand-up Meetings.

 

Essential/Required:

·  Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to at least 3+ years supervisory experience over the installation, repair, and maintenance of an underground and/or overhead electric distribution system including substation maintenance.

·  Three years as a Lead Lineman or equivalent will also be considered as qualifying.

·  Ability to work unusual hours in emergency situations or at other than regular job site.

·  Some positions may require extensive travel throughout a large territory while others may have a residency requirement.

 

Marginal/Desired:

·  Knowledgeable in California Public Utility Commission General Orders 95, 128 and 165.

·  General computer skills in Word and Excel along with daily routine experience of e-mail communications.

·  Supplemental coursework in electrical theory, management, or related field.
