Support Teacher

Position Title:   Support Teacher   Date: August 2006 Department:    Child Development Center Grade:  C Reports To:   Program Coordinator    Job Code:  077321 Status: Non-Exempt

 

Position Summary:Assist in the daily care of the children in the Center; assume the role of Primary Caregiver when replacing the Primary Caregiver in the classroom for lunch breaks, planning times, vacations, etc.; and assist in housekeeping, organizing, food service, project preparation, and other general Center activites.

 

Primary Responsibilities:
Maintain safety, care, and nurturance of children at all times.
Keep track of children in your care at all times.
Treating all of the children with dignity and respect.
Maintain confidentiality of the children and parents.
Accountable for the children in your care during the course of your shift.  This includes relaying information to the parents about their child's day, giving specific information to the parents from the Primary Caregiver and/or from the parents to the Primary Caregiver as the need arises and charting all diaper changes, feedings, and naps.
Writing notes on the children's Daily Sheets about their day, as needed.
Attend all staff meetings and recommended required trainings.
Uphold NAEYC guidelines and Developmentally Appropriate Practices.
Responsible for knowing and following the policies and procedures of the Center, Kohl's policies & procedures, and State Licensing Rules & Regulations.
Work well with fellow associates and supervisors.
Meet yearly continuing education requirements.
Keep a current Registry certificate.
Maintains confidentiality of the children and parents.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
Educational background in Early Childhood preferred.
Early Childhood I & II and Infant/Toddler completed (required).
First Aid/CPR Training
Health Exam and TB Test required
Able to lift 40lbs.
