Prepress Specialt

JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs complex file preparation operating both MAC and PC based graphic software applications and related equipment i.e. scanner, laser and color printers and RIPs systems for the pre-press stage of printed materials.

PRIMARY DUTIES

1.Operates both MAC and PC pre-presses software applications. Insures acceptable production quality of file manipulate for printing production

2.Prepares complex digital files printing by performing pre-flighting, insuring proper traps, bleeds, images, fonts for imposition using current prepress workflow system.

3.Prepares files for outputting to proofing, computer to plate, image setting, large-format, DI press and toner base units for printing.

4.Preparation of PDF's and other digital files for uploading to FTP server, CD burning or for archival and distribution purposes as needed

5.Receives and review jobs from coordinator to produce and prioritize jobs to meet deadline changes and updates.

6.Layout and impose files on printer templates. Set up register targets and trim lines for print production

7.Scans, download or import images for digital files.

8.Organize and maintain digital files per department-wide archival system.

9.Performs maintenance of all pre-press equipment. Clean and maintain equipment and work area following maintenance procedures and update maintenance log

10.Prepares and maintains production records and inventory of pre-press supplies.

11.Responds to inquiries regarding files, job layout and product schedules.

Technical requirements :
Results-orientated, deadline-driven and used to working in a fast-paced, team-focused environment.
Organize, prioritize, and control job responsibilities.
Work with minimal direct supervision.
Accurate typing and data entry skills via Macintosh & PC keyboards.
Possess a working knowledge of the Internet, how to quickly navigate within it and use it as a tool to aggregate both graphical & textual content.
Must be proficient with Macintosh computers in an OSX environment and relevant design related programs, including PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, QuarkXPress, Acrobat, Flash, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Must be able to juggle multiple projects and work with aggressive turnaround times.
Communicate effectively with management, coworkers and store staff.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proofing, grammar and spelling.
Must be confident to take a project from concept to completion.
Must have a thorough understanding of prepress and printing.
Perform well under aggressive project timelines to meet deadlines.
Ability to learn and utilize new technology quickly and accurately as it pertains to our business.
