Customer Service Associate (PT) - Decatur, AL.

Customer Service - Builds strong customer relationships, loyalty and retention.
- Assists customers in the selection of product from the Grainger Catalog, as well as, other resources.
- Resolves pricing situations encountered during customer transactions using current sales policies.
- Replenishes counter displays, while maintaining a professional appearance and inventory accuracy.
- Applies credit and pricing procedures to meet customer expectations while minimizing financial risk for the organization.
- Refers customers to other internal/external resources when the need arises.
- Actively participates in Company's quality initiative and supports continuous improvement by utilizing Voice of the Customer tools, such as the Voice Form and Opportunities for Improvement (OFI's).
- Works effectively with others in a team based environment to accomplish organizational goals and to identify and resolve problems.
- Performs necessary housekeeping duties in order to maintain a clean, safe, organized working environment.
- Performs warehouse and other duties as assigned.

Sales
- Retains an ongoing awareness and understanding of active promotions.
- Presents product promotions to customers in order to increase sales and customer awareness of product and service capabilities as defined by the Grainger Service Promise.

Systems/Product Knowledge
- Uses the computer system to provide information on pricing, availability, and alternate product selection to complete customer transactions.
- Maintains inventory accuracy and minimizes multiple locations through effective use of computerized scanning equipment and other inventory maintenance reports.


- Must have a.m. availability. 20-30 hrs. per week.
- Must feel comfortable working in a dynamic, team-based environment where priorities are continually changing.
- Able to follow verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision within specified time frames.
- Able to operate computerized scanning equipment and PC based programs.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Has an understanding of our primary product offering and service capabilities.
- Able to identify problems and offer alternative solutions and/or courses of action based on available resources.
- Demonstrates dependable, on-time performance.
- Able to lift up to 70 pounds on a regular basis.
- Able to operate power equipment including forklifts, pallet-jacks, and handcarts.
- Demonstrates a commitment to providing superior customer service.
- Conveys information clearly and concisely.
- Professional in appearance, attitude and action.


This position reports directly to a Customer Service Manager or Branch Manager and has frequent interaction with customers and suppliers. It has regular contact with Account Managers to relay information regarding specific customers and utilizes other internal support departments such as Technical Support, Data Entry, Credit, Grainger Parts Operation, Field Support, and the Field Inventory Department to meet or exceed customer expectations. Works well with other branch teams and team members.

This is a part-time position working Monday through Friday, 25-30 hours per week.
