Sr. Safety Specialist

These experienced professional will specifically support areas of an ice cream plant, transportation, warehouse, freezer, sales / marketing and all other branches and aspects of Wells’ Dairy. A key objective will be to reduce incident rates and lessen the impact of workers’ compensation claim dollars.

 

We are looking for an individual that is a plant safety, health and wellness team professional that shares the leadership responsibility for an effective Wells’ Dairy Safety, Health and Wellness Program at the plant level.  This role provides day-to-day oversight of safety and health activities for their facility.  Contributes to the fulfillment of the Wells’ Dairy vision by designing, implementing and maintaining facility programs, policies, and procedures, to safeguard and support employees, customers/consumers products and the company.

 

Other responsibilities include providing the expertise, guidance and leadership for the development, implementation and sustainability of a world-class safety, health and wellness process to create an “injury-free” environment at the plant level.  Assists in the development of and conducts value based Safety and Health Training and promotes safety and health by assisting with promotional campaigns.  Supports Continuous Improvement, Process Safety Management, Workers Compensation, and Business Continuity-Crisis Management practices. Create and review policies and programs assuring compliance with all best practice safety and health concepts.  Preparing reports of the analysis and communicating the results with the Plant Manger and department management.  Effectively communicates policy recommendations, both orally and in writing to a broad spectrum of audiences as part of the employee safety and health education and awareness program.  This position would report to the Manufacturing Facility Plant Manager and provide guidance, support, and coordination to the Director of Safety, Security, and Business Continuity. 

 

Qualified applicants must have a Bachelors Degree in Safety and Health, Business, Industrial Technology, Industrial Hygiene or related disciplines; or the equivalent in education and work experience.  Minimum of 5 years experience in safety and health related field.
