Mattel, Inc. is seeking a Packaging Engineer to join its Hot Wheels Packaging team! Packaging for Hot Wheels extends into all products related to the car market and we are seeking and individual able to design and develop innovative structural packaging solutions to support worldwide product launches through a comprehensive knowledge of technology, materials and competitor analysis.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
' Meet specific package engineer milestones and support the product design schedule.
' Attend various team/department/management meetings.

MATERIALS / PROGRAMS / FABRICATION KNOWLEDGE
' Familiarity with common packaging materials including chip, corrugation, p.v.c., styrene, tapes, poly bags, etc.

' Knowledge of 3D/CAD design software (i.e. Artios, Pro-E, Solidworks) a plus. Knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator a plus as well.
' Ability to fabricate pattern molds and pull blisters.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
' Current knowledge of competitive products at retail
' Proven ability to create innovative structures to ensure competitive advantage.
' Able to design 3D structures that compliment and protect complex products.
' Must be successful at working on many projects concurrently while adhering to packaging/business schedules.
' Effective at presenting ideas, problems and solutions to management and peers. Must be abile to clearly communicate to any number of people.
' Able to originate a package cost estimate for cost impact of different packaging solutions.
' Must be able to work cohesively in a team environment.
' Adept at creating engineering drawings.
' Understanding of planograms, space management, and other retail concerns.
' Proven strong organizational skills and pro-active work style.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE NEEDED
Bachelor degree with at least 3-5 years experience in industrial, structural design or package engineering. Experience working in a team environment, under tight deadlines.
