Director of International Purchasing/Sourcing
The Company: Our client is a Massachusetts designer and marketer of giftware and home decor products sold worldwide. This industry leading publicly traded company is highly respected for it's corporate leadership and for it's innovative and unique product offerings.
The Position: The selected candidate will lead the sourcing/purchasing team to develop new product specifications, establish and finalize quality requirements and identify and recommend domestic and overseas vendors. Will regularly contact sources, conduct value analysis and solicit bids regarding product cost, quality, specifications, tooling and delivery terms. Will work with product development and quality assurance team to determine trends/color requirements. Will finalize product specifications and select packaging,labeling and artwork to ensure innovative and unique products. Will visit vendor facilities to evaluate overall performance to include production capacity, cost control, efficiency, quality, reliability and on-time delivery. Will manage the new product development schedule and coordinate sourcing activites by working closely with vendors and supply chain planning team, product marketing, quality assurance, transportation and materials staff. Requires 30% travel.
The candidate: Must have a BSBA with 7 to 10 years of sourcing, buying or purchasing experience with domestic and overseas production suppliers. Should be well versed in several product areas including home decor, giftware, tabletop or related product lines. Experience in a manufacturing, retail, catalog or direct sales setting is a must. Should be knowledgeable of manufacturing production methods using several materials such as metal, glass, porcelain, wrought iron, silver, etc. Must be an experienced manager with strong leadership and negotiation skills with expertise in new product development and overseas sourcing.
