RPG-BPCS Programmer Analyst
SofTec I.T. has a premier client in the Clinton, MA area seeking someone with the following exact skillsets and work experience:
Interfaces with users at all levels, including upper management, to determine problems and formulate logical business solutions through the use of data processing systems and programming. Works independently most of the time. On an ongoing basis provides user support on technical and business problems.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
· As a core member of an application project team assist in the implementation of computer systems relating to the project.
· Analyze, design, develop, program, implement, document, and maintain computer systems consistent with departmental standards and conventions. Maximize computer utilization through efficient programming techniques.
· Work closely alongside business staff to convert user requirements into IT technical specifications.
· Assist users with unit testing, system testing, and acceptance testing of all related systems. Assist in developing detailed test strategies and plans
· Evaluate and modify existing programs for process improvements or changes in system requirements.
· Designs output reports to the satisfaction of user department, incorporating standard formatting techniques.
· Evaluate products from outside vendors and make recommendations.
· Assist in preparing and developing departmental procedures and guidelines.
· Provide technical support to all users by: resolving system problems, documenting problem solutions, answering questions pertaining to system capabilities.
· Other duties as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
· Knowledge of data management techniques and manufacturing or business systems normally acquired through attainment of a Bachelor’s Degree in business or related discipline. 5-7 years experience designing and programming business application in a manufacturing environment.
· Experience with AS/400 programming, querying, and debugging tools, RPG III & ILE, CL, EDI, SQL, AS/SET, interactive and batch programming, database concepts, and ability to plan, design, and program business application in a manufacturing environment (BPCS). Typically acquired by 5-7 years of related experience.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong analytical and evaluation skills
· Ability to work and communicate well with personnel within and outside department at all levels.
· Experience with Microsoft Office.
