Network Architecture Specialist - CA-Los Angeles

Ralphs Grocery Company has the following full-time, non-union hourly, position available in the Los Angeles area.

 

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

The individual is to provide network technical design, development, administration, advanced technical support, planning, and installation of technologies related to data networks and network computing.  This includes support for cabling systems, Ethernet switches, radio frequency, servers (Windows and Novell), tape backup, and disaster recovery.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide advanced support for network devices and network management softwareResponsible for implementation of new technologies related to data networks including LAN, MAN, WAN, RF, and SNAEvaluate and test new network hardwareResponsible for support of existing network facilities, including servers, routers, bridges, switches, multiplexers, shared media hub, operating systems, communication software, and network management software.Provide off-hours pager support on a rotating basis for hardware and applications maintained by the group.Must be willing to adjust work schedule when circumstances require it.  Occasional weekend and off-hours assignments are requiredPerform network/server diagnostic for evaluation and problem resolution Maintain health of network servers (virus protection, software and firmware updates)Understanding of network operating systems, NTFS security, and data protection/recoveryAssist in execution of special projects as needed to support departmental and company objectives.

 

REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s degree in computer related field or equivalent experience2 years experience in design and implementation of data networks and network operating systemsWindows, Linux and Novell experience desired.Proficiency in managing Ethernet LANs.  RF networks helpfulFamiliarity with standard network services (DNS/ DHCP/ BOOTP/ NFS / NTFS/ AD/ WINS)Network switching and or routing experience requiredExcellent analytical and problem solving skillsHighly motivated individual with good oral and written communication skills.  The ability to effectively communicate ideas and solutions to a diverse group of peopleMust be able to work in a group environmentMust be able to perform simple/complex tasks with minimal supervision.Travel in the Southern California areaOccasional lifting and carrying of up to 60 lbs.May be required to complete skills and ability testing.
