COMPUTER OPERATOR
Performs computer operations and troubleshooting in a 24/7 environment utilizing IBM AS/400, Microsoft Windows and HP-Unix systems. This is an entry level position, must be willing to work any shift, including weekends/holidays.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Monitors operating system processes and user batch processing on the IBM AS/400, HP-Unix, MS Windows NT and DEC/VAX systems in a 24/7 environment.
Executes commands using a documented procedure and checklist.
Offers first level Help Desk support for troubleshooting problems and routing help desk tickets.
Prepares media cartridges for backup use and coordinates media offsite storage.
Handles user requests such as mounting tapes, report printing and report distribution.
Must maintain satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum one year work experience or technical training.
Experience with IBM AS/400, HP-Unix or Microsoft Windows systems helpful, but not required.
SKILLS
Ability to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts and overtime, when required.
Must be able to work without direct supervision.
Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 30 pounds.
Must have strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills including telephone communication skills.
Must have strong computer skills.
Ability to organize.
