Senior Trust Officer - Banking

We have been retained to conduct a search for a Senior Trust Officer by our client, a leading community banking organization located in Muscatine, Iowa. This individual will be a part of the executive team and provide leadership and direction of the Trust Department to maintain and develop client relationships and increase the portfolio of assets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Directs the administration of the Trust Department with supervisory responsibility for a team of individuals involved in the trust / estate management function of the bank. Also supervises the Financial Consultants in the bank’s Brokerage operation.

- Maintains relationships with current clients by assessing the client’s overall investment, financial, estate and tax planning needs while cultivating new business opportunities.

- Represents the bank with respect to the entire Trust function during bank exams.

- Serves on the following committees: Asset/Liability Management Committee, Senior Management Quality Service Council, and the Pricing and Investment Committee.

- Advises on the strategic planning and direction of the bank’s Trust activities.

- Developing and implementing quality service in the Trust Department, which includes training, measuring, and rewarding all direct and indirect reports to ensure full implementation of the bank’s quality service culture.

- Solicits new business for the Trust Department including calling on prospects for new business, following up on employee referrals and conducting seminars explaining the bank’s trust services.

- Reviews and directs the investment of various trust and management accounts ensuring that excess or surplus funds are invested according to terms of the trust and wishes of trust clients including the preparation of a quarterly stock and bond report for the Executive Committee.

- Represents the bank and provides leadership in key community activities, including business, charitable, civic, and social organizations.

 

Required Skills and Knowledge:

The successful candidate will be a highly organized, energetic, flexible leader with the initiative and ability to manage of staff of Trust professionals. An ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple projects with close attention to quality and detail are important competencies linked to this position. Also, this individual will lead the strategic direction of the bank’s Trust Department and actively develop new business opportunities while maintaining existing clients. Good communication, customer relations, initiative, leadership, integrity, and influence / persuasion skills are essential.

Demonstrated experience in trust and/or estate management in banking is required with specific accomplishments in directing a staff of professionals. This individual needs the capability of working with clients, attorneys, and beneficiaries in a confident manner to manage a portfolio of trust/investment accounts.



A bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance is required with an advanced or professional degree preferred (JD, MBA, MA). Competitive compensation and benefits package.
