SUMMARY

The Subtitle Authoring Technician works to receive language files from off-site vendors—primarily SDI—converts and encodes them to proper delivery specifications, and participates in quality control to ensure a timely and quality product. Assistance throughout SDI's workflow is required to assist in maintaining technical integrity through the entire process.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position requires the individual to have the ability to work in a PC (and possibly Unix)-based, detail-oriented, time-sensitive environment. Professionalism must be maintained within the team, with other departments, as well as with clients and fellow vendors. Cooperation with and diplomatic representation of SDI to SDI's partnered authoring centers is of utmost importance. The ability to follow guidelines, to identify exceptions, and to have the resourcefulness to handle them is a necessity. Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

q Works to convert, encode and QC subtitles to the client and authoring center’s specifications and satisfaction

q Maintains and improves various support systems to ensure that deadlines are met

q Must operate a computer and connected network drives in a skilled, efficient manner

q Effectively navigate and manipulate internal files in an organized, scheduled fashion

q Adjusts to new and changing procedures and deadlines 

q Remains sensitive to client needs and deadlines 

q Actively participates in improvements in the process, including the creation of profiles and the formal submissions of policy and procedure suggestions 

q Adheres to company policies and procedures

q Adheres to full-time schedule and overtime requirements

q Must work overtime and weekends when needed

q Performs other related duties, as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The Subtitle Delivery Technician needs highly developed Windows skills and experience with high-pressure, deadline-driven scenarios. A strong background in Windows file management and audio/video postproduction is preferred, as is a detail-oriented personality. Unix experience is recommended but not required.
