Project Accounting provides the accounting, financial reporting and financial operations support for Corporate EIT Shared Services projects totaling approximately $150 million annually and involving nearly 1,600 EIT personnel. There are currently nearly 300 projects that are in-progress.


Essential Functions

The position's essential functions are to provide support to the Project Accounting team and to assume ownership of the EIT Finance responsibilities for Cardinal Health's desktops, laptops and printers (Hub Inventory). This position will also provide support to the department's customers operating at various levels of responsibility and disciplines within the organization.


Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities

Provide operating support for the determination of actual monthly expenditures at a project level of detail.
Prepare monthly journal entries for depreciation accruals, reclassifications and transfers to fixed assets.
Participate in the month end project accounting close process and assist with development of supporting documentation in support of the Company's SOX compliance procedures.
Prepare and maintain records for the Cardinal Health capitalized desktop, laptop and printer inventory from the purchase order stage of the process through establishment of the equipment as a fixed asset to include the accounting, reporting and reconciliation to the general ledger for these phases. Work with equipment inventory managers at 13 locations to ensure policy compliance, to provide support and to assist with issue resolution. Also required is monthly tracking and reporting, including commitments by approved and funded project.
Assist with follow-up on existing projects related to variances, in-service estimates, cost overruns, cost classifications, etc. This will involve communications and interaction with project management personnel.
Assist with the review of source data and preparation of the monthly journal entry to capitalize qualifying project labor.
Assist with streamlining the operating processes for the Hub Inventory.
Work on various special projects on ad hoc basis as assigned.

Education: Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Finance or Other Business Discipline

Knowledge / Skills Required:
One to three years of accounting or finance experience preferably with a large public corporation.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
Understanding of accounting and finance fundamentals
Able to set priorities
Excellent computer skills primarily in Microsoft Office products
Quantitative orientation with attention to detail and accuracy
