Senior Systems Engineer (FMS)

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, plus a minimum of five (5) years of related experience. Candidate must be a US Citizen and must be able to pass a background check. A current DoD Secret clearance is preferred; however, any candidates without a clearance must be willing and able to obtain a DoD Secret level clearance. Some foreign travel is required (to France).
Skills Needed:
Ideal candidate will possess a systems engineering perspective to rocket or missile design, verification, production and launch operations. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required. Experience with specification writing, requirements creation/management, requirements verification activities, and trade study analysis is a plus. Ability to work effectively under tight schedule pressure and deadlines is required. Ability to proactively interface with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers in the pursuit of focused, time-critical tasks is required.
Duties Specific to the Position:
This candidate will be the systems engineer for the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) version of the GQM-163A Coyote Sea Skimming Missile. Coyote is a high speed, low-altitude anti-ship missile target system. Orbital is contracted to the US Navy to provide a target and launch services, including initial range integration and activation, to the Government of France. In this position, the candidate will perform general systems engineering and system architecting activities. The candidate will also manage numerous contractual engineering deliverables and ensure their timely delivery to the customer. The candidate will interface with internal engineers, the customer community, and other program participants to define FMS related system requirements and processes. the candidate will be responsible for the creation and coordination of range interface requirements specifications, mission planning documentation, system documentation, flight clearance documentation and post-flight reporting. The candidate will work with other team members in the creation of the above documentation, and shall have excellent communication skills, presentation experience and the ability to work with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the systems team. Electrical/Mechanical/Aero experience and the ability to speak French a plus. Other duties as assigned.
