Candidate must possess strong management and leadership skills. Must be able to interact with and communicate effectively with all levels of management including the executive management of Orbital, its suppliers and customers. Able to develop, evaluate and improve quality assurance processes. Demonstrated experience in the design, testing and production electronic components, printed wire boards, circuit card assemblies, and electronic systems is strongly desired. Experience in utilizing formal problem solving tools and techniques. Ability to organize and lead a team of engineering professionals in a very dynamic, challenging environment. Experienced with Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint software required. Excellent written, oral and presentation skills a must.

Candidate will be responsible for leading a team of engineers that provide technical support and quality oversight in the acquisition of electronic components, assemblies and systems for various launch and ground applications including flight computers. This entails leading and organizing the review of all discrepant hardware discovered during source inspection, receiving inspection and subsequent assembly into launch systems and their testing. A successful candidate will also be responsible for leading a technical team to determining the company's exposure to like discrepancies which includes leading investigations, collecting supporting documentation, identifying sources of supply, devising suspect material containment plans, creating corrective and preventative action plans, and working with technical teams for final resolution all within aggressive timeline goals. This position will also develop and deploy continuous improvement initiatives for this process to support supply base performance goals in supplier approval, surveillance, auditing, and quality rating. This position works closely with engineering, quality assurance, material, and procurement management and professionals to ensure the highest quality of procured hardware. This position requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking and the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds for short distances. Other duties as required.

Experience - External:
An ideal candidate will possess a Bachelors Degree in electrical engineering at least 10 years of related experience with electronic components and systems. The ideal candidate will also have a background managing a technical team charged with problem definition and resolution of electrical and electronic systems issues. Experience in the quality assurance of procured items and the systems that flow down contractual requirements to a supply base of aerospace manufacturing companies is highly desirable. Experience in professional auditing and leading audit teams is a plus. ASQ Certification (CQM, CQE) or Six Sigma training a desired. Ability to obtain 'For Official Use Only' (FOUO) security clearance required.
