Communications Specialist

Omniflight Helicopters Inc. is the largest privately-held air medical company in the country.  We currently operate over 60 air ambulance helicopters and airplanes in 15 states.  Some of our programs include Native Air Ambulance in Arizona, Med Flight in Ohio, LifeLine in Indiana, Rescue Air 1 in Atlanta, and Mayo Air Medical Transport in Minnesota.  We are seeking a Communications Specialist for our Native Air Ambulance operation in Mesa, AZ.  If you are looking for an exciting and rewarding career, Omniflight is the place for you!

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Communications Specialist performs emergency and general communications functions to facilitate the dispatch and coordination of all air transport flight requests.  This position requires diligent attention to detail and precise documentation skills so as to multi-task and rapidly trouble shoot demanding situations.  All functions within the Communications Center will be in accordance with the mission statement of Native Air and the quality standards established by  CAMTS, the NAACS and protocols established by the Communications Director and Supervisor.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

A thorough understanding and implementation of flight and transport operations in order to ensure the safety of the flight crews and patients.

Demonstrates proficiency in the utilization of the Communications equipment provided in the Communications Center.

Conducts all communications written, verbal, and other in an effective, accurate and courteous manner.

Accurately performs all duties in the communications center and ensures compliance with all written and verbal policies and procedures specified for the department.

Accurately performs all tasks and specific functions including map reading, flight following, etc. to coordinate effective safe transportation of all crewmembers and patients.

Provides a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers and employees.

Can handle and operate under stressful situations and high call volumes on a regular basis.

Must possess good conflict resolution skills, and develop a positive working relationship with all members of the health care team.

Must develop and foster an excellent rapport with all hospital employees and referring agencies personnel.

Displays initiative and seeks a collaborative working environment.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

 

EMT Certification required with National Registry Certification Preferred.

EMT Certification will be kept current throughout the duration of employment.

Able to meet the daily stresses of the frequent high flight volume environment.

Should possess previous dispatch & communications experience in the EMS Field.

EMS Flight dispatch experience highly preferred.

Willingness to work a 3 / 4 work schedule with standard 12 hour shifts.

Willingness to help cover schedule openings.

Possess a high proficiency in computer skills: Typing, Computer Aided Dispatch, Mapping Software and the Suite of Microsoft Windows Products.

Strong ability to multi-task and critically think under stressful situations.

Possess excellent customer service skills for both internal and external customers.

Willingness to obtain NAACS Certification during time of employment.
