Training Specialist
PURPOSE OF POSITION Assess, plan, research, implement and administer training and development programs consistent with plant needs for improving productivity and employee competence.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement the standards contained in the Westinghouse "Codes of Business Ethics & Conduct and Defense Industry Initiatives". Insure that all employees reporting to this position are informed about the standards and related policies, and enforce them within this supervised activity.
1. Assess plant training and development needs. Design, develop and conduct training to meet those needs, ncluding management/supervisory techniques, Interaction Management, Human Performance, and operator training.
2. Conduct general and/or special training programs covering specific areas, such as on-the-job training, for clerical, professional, technical, and production employees.
3. Coordinate, develop and administer technical and vocational training and serve as liaison with external education and training organizations as required.
4. Select or develop teaching aids such as training handbooks, multi-media aids, reference materials, computer based training, and videos.
5. Facilitate team or training council meetings in an effective manner.
6. Recommend appropriate courses for employees. Monitor and maintain training records for all formal internal and external training programs.
7. Train and mentor Technical Trainers and Subject Matter Experts.
8. Prepare and submit recommendations for training budget and administer same.
9. Train first-line supervisors and other supervisory personnel in effective techniques for training including on-the-job training, apprenticeship programs, safety programs, and workplace meetings.
10. Work with management to gain knowledge and identification of work situations requiring preventive or remedial training for employees.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
I. KNOWLEDGE
Must be knowledgeable of the various skills and techniques to develop, implement, and effectively carry out training needs.
Bachelors degree, preferably in education or psychology, with a minimum of three (3) years training or equivalent experience. Training experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Practical and fundamental knowledge of SAT processes and software for development and delivery of online training including: Blackboard, Centra Symposium, Authorware, Adobe DVD Studio, OnDemand, and basic graphics.
Candidate must also have experience working in a technical/engineering environment.
