Continuing Medical Education Coordinator
Coordinator, Continuing Medical Education
The primary responsibilities of the Coordinator, Continuing Medical Education (CME) is to coordinate the Speakers’ Bureau Program for URSO Forte®, ULTRASE®, PHOTOFRIN® and CANASA™, as well as performing a variety of tasks that require planning, multi tasking and organization skills to meet deadlines. This position will be located in Axcan’s Birmingham, AL office. Specific duties of the Coordinator, CME, include, but are not limited to, the following:
Build and maintain speaker faculty databaseCreate speaker profiles; collect and maintain curriculum vitae (CV) for bureau membersMaintain and develop relationships with speakers’ bureau members, CME staff of hospitals and universities, patient organizations, third party CME companies, etc.Create and provide consulting services agreements for both bureau and non-bureau speakersRecruit physicians for the PHOTOFRIN® Speakers’ and Training BureauAssist with the organization and implementation of advisory panel meetings, speakers’ programs, CME events and speaker trainings, etc.Confirm logistics of lecture events, including speakers, collecting data/details from host site or applicable organization, communicating pertinent information to the speaker and appropriate personnel, travel and hotel arrangements for speakersProcess all expenses for events and payment of honorarium, expenditures, etc. (including representative related expenses)Process all (US) educational grants (including authorized approvals, check requests and accompanying documentation)Maintain and report on related program budgets and provide to management Negotiate Axcan sponsorship of symposia’s and speakers’ honorariumCreate and obtain authorized signatory on Letters of Agreement and Letters of Commercial Support for CME ActivitiesEnsure compliance of government, industry and internal policies including but not limited to Sarbanes Oxley, ACCME, FDA/OIG-Antikickback, PhRMA Code, RX&D Marketing Code (CA), Axcan Pharma Commercial Compliance Policy and individual state laws affecting interaction with physicians Maintain up-to-date resources and materials to benefit the bureau and field sales forceInitiate and implement, with RBUM assistance, programs in regions that are open or require assistance Train sales representatives on speaker program guidelines and database utilization during appropriate sales meetings and via teleconferenceWork with legal department to ensure all consulting services agreements are current and provide reporting for state audits (Anti-kickback)
Requirements include:
Must possess strong administrative and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize activities and take initiative to complete assignments and job responsibilities without supervision Candidate must be able to effectively interface with a variety of people, be flexible to changing work priorities and work well under stressful situationsBachelor’s degree preferred, high school diploma acceptable, and two to three years’ experience as an administrative assistant are requiredExcellent written and oral communication skills, with attention to detail a mustProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
