Southwest Regional Internal Audit Manager

Job Duties: General 1. To ensure the auditing of every agent every year.

2. To ensure follow-up audits are performed in 90 days.

3. To ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained to ensure each auditor has approximately 150 audit reviews to perform each year.

4. To train bookkeepers in accounting systems and procedures as needed, or as requested.

5. To work with the outside auditors as assigned.

6. To make recommendations to promote standardization and uniformity of accounting systems whenever possible.

7. To make meaningful recommendations on reviews that are either cost effective or absolutely necessary to safeguard Company assets.

8. To perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time by the Director, Audit Services Department.

Direct Operations
1. To insure the existing internal auditing system properly safeguards assets of the Company.

2. To provide accounting guidance to accounting and operating areas of the Company.

3. To insure a strong and adequate system of internal control is in effect and the accounting systems and procedures are efficient, with errors or irregularities surfacing in a timely manner.

4. To assist the managers/operations personnel in receiving timely and accurate financial information from which to manage their operating area.

5. To assist in the training of bookkeepers in financial accounting during the conduct of a financial review.

6. To assist the outside auditors, as requested, to provide the most cost effective audit.

7. To insure compliance with statutory and other regulatory requirements.

8. To assess computer capabilities of the Accounting Department and make recommendations to improve and make more efficient the accounting systems.

9. To make recommendations to promote standardization and uniformity in accounting systems, procedures, and communications.


Agency Operations
1. To insure compliance with the terms of the agency agreement.

2. To determine that policy reporting and premium remittances are accurate and current.

3. To determine that escrow accounts are intact and properly stated.

4. To insure that practices and procedures involving fiduciary funds are strong and act as a deterrent to fraud.

5. To insure that the bookkeeper is knowledgeable, capable, and exercising control to insure the integrity of the escrow accounting.

6. To continue to educate the bookkeeper and manager/operations personnel as to sound escrow accounting practices.

7. To advise other areas/individuals of First American, as necessary, of items which come to the attention of the reviewer during the conduct of the review that they have a need to be aware of.

8. To insure compliance with statutory and other regulatory requirements.

9. To conduct reviews with professionalism and integrity, upholding the image of First American throughout the conduct of the assignment.

Job Requirements:

1. To communicate effectively and positively with others at all levels in the organization .

2. To display proficiency in oral and written skills.

3. To be willing to travel 50% - 70% of the time, and longer, if required, on special projects.

4. To be organized and work effectively and efficiently.

5. To be a team player and display a positive attitude, implement suggestions from those in the organization with non-relevant experience, as warranted.

6. To be a self-starter and be able to work effectively with minimal supervision.

7. To display a high degree of business acumen.

8. To display a cost conscious attitude at all times, whether in town or on an out of town assignment.

9. To travel to and from work assignments outside of the normal business hours.

10. To be willing to travel outside the assigned Region on an "as needed" basis.

Qualifications
1. Degreed Accountant, Industry experience preferred, CPA or MBA a +, with three to five years of experience.

2. Either have, or be willing to develop, a working knowledge of GAAP, Statutory, and other regulatory basis of accounting.

3. Must have a valid Arizona driver's license and personal vehicle with insurance coverage satisfactory to the Company, and no travel restrictions. Must have a clean driving record.
