Senior Financial Accountant

Acuity Brands Lighting is the world's largest manufacturer of lighting fixtures. Products include indoor and outdoor lighting for commercial, institutional, industrial, infrastructure, and residential applications. Products are manufactured at 19 plants in North America and 5 plants in Europe and are dispersed through strategically located distribution centers.


 

Primary Function of Position
Assist with maintaining all balance sheet account descriptions, reconciliations and analysis. Assist with creating new and updating and maintaining current policies and procedures related to accounting and financial controls. Must have an understanding of financial reporting requirements (GAAP and SEC) to ensure proper data is being collected and reported to Acuity Brands. Assists with accounting research for remote locations. Provides project support to the Manager, Financial Accounting and Director.


Key Responsibilities
Monthly review of the balance sheet reconciliations and analyses, including analyzing any issues and developing a plan to resolve those issues with little or no input from their manager. Coordinating with business units quarterly reporting packages. Providing monthly financial information to Acuity Brands and support for SEC and other financial reporting. Research accounting issues and document formal policies, as needed. Creating and implementing policies and procedures for accounting and financial controls. Working with financial systems to insure that all changes in our chart of acccounts and reporting structure are properly tested prior to implementation of any changes. Coordination of all government reporting. Develop reports and presentations for management. Serve as an accounting resource for remote locations. Provide project support to Mgr, Financial Accounting and Director. All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Competencies
Strong PC skills, aptitude for learning and understanding ERP systems (Oracle and Hyperion experience a plus), strong communication skills (oral and written) excellent organizational skills, good problem-solving skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, good decision making, and strong analytical skills.
5 to 7 years experience in financial reporting. CPA or CPA candidate with “Big 4”audit experience preferred. Hyperion Enterprise and Planning a plus.


EDUCATION
Bachelors Degree in Accounting. MBA a plus.Please apply on-line:
