Manager - Accounting Methods and Credits Services - Federal Tax

Due to an expanding practice we are currently seeking a Tax Manager to join our Accounting Methods and Credits Services team in our San Diego or Los Angeles office.

Our tax professionals who handle federal tax issues bring the experience and commitment necessary to deliver tax compliance and advisory services to help meet our clients' specific needs.

KPMG’s Federal Tax Services Practice offers a broad range of capabilities in the following areas:
•Compliance and Advisory Services: comprehensive day-to-day tax advisory services, tax compliance services, regulatory representation, and tax provision preparation and review
•Accounting Methods and Credit Services: tax accounting services, research and experimentation tax credit review, and fixed asset review
•Mergers and Acquisitions: due diligence, acquisition and disposition tax planning, and services related to troubled companies
•Tax Controversy Services: tax court services and alternative dispute resolution services
•Tax Management Services: tax operational analysis, tax outsourcing, and tax technology
•Tax Planning for Tax-Exempt Organizations: tax management, transactions and reorganizations, advocacy, and compliance


Federal Tax

Responsibilities:

* Managing research tax credit projects including: supervising client interviews, the preparation of memos and supporting documentation, reviewing calculations, reviewing the development of spreadsheets and conducting technical research
* Managing accounting method projects related to revenue and expense recognition, capitalized items, depreciation, fixed assets and inventories
* Working with multi-disciplinary teams on IRC Section 199 manufacturing deduction calculations
* Writing opinion letters, responses to IRS inquiries; review of Form’s 3115 application for change in accounting method, and writing other technical memoranda
* Managing staff and seniors on multiple projects in multiple offices
* Overall project management including scheduling, staffing, meeting deadlines, analyzing financial statements, identifying technical issues, working with our professionals in Washington National Tax, completing client deliverables, adhering to KPMG’s internal work product standards, billing and further developing the Accounting Methods and Credit Services team
* Recruiting new team members

Qualifications:

* Five years of public accounting-tax experience or corporate taxation experience in industry
* Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college/university
* Demonstrated project management skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* CPA
* Experience with tax provision
