Financial Specialist I

Description The Financial Specialist I reports into the Professional Development Administrator and will be responsible for performing budgeting and administrative accounting duties involving calculations, verifications, and reports. He or she provides support to the Professional Development Department by assembling, interpreting, analyzing and reconciling data.
Responsibilities

o Prepares expense summaries and analytical reports for major events by assembling and analyzing current and historical data, identifying trends, providing projections, explaining processes and techniques, and recommending actions.
o Prepares monthly budget variance reports; researches and corrects posting errors; reclassifies expenses as required.
o Develops the budget planning schedule and timetables and ensures the budget is within the deadline.
o Analyzes and reconciles hotel bills; reconciles monthly American Express card invoices; prepares vouchers and check requests.
o Reviews month-end GL reports and maintains account files.
o Develops spreadsheets to organize and track monthly expenses for all accounts.
o Prepares and submits annual budget.
o Analyzes data and provides findings for departmental presentations.
o Assists with special projects on various issues as needed.
o Assists with preparation for firmwide professional development meetings, as needed, and when availability permits.
o Promotes effective work practices, works as a team member, and shows respect for co-workers.
