The Corporate Treasury Department supports SPE's global banking, and financing needs. Primary responsibilities include the management of working capital, international treasury, investments, banking and custody, bank relationships, short-term financing, and film financing.
Description:
The Director of Treasury Finance takes a leading role in meeting Sony Pictures Entertainment's international operations and worldwide financing objectives, including foreign exchange risk management implementation, optimization of international Treasury services, overseeing relationships with financial institutions, and supervising cash flow forecasting projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manage Treasury's foreign exchange operations, including distribution of exchange rates, execution of production funding and remittance, preparation of accounting, bank performance analysis and forecast benchmarking reports, and submission of SCA reports:
• Liaise with production finance and Treasury to advise budget rates, currency risk mitigation strategies and obtaining letters of credit for overseas productions (for avoidance of import duties on production equipment).
• Guarantee exchange rates for foreign production cash flow. Track foreign production funding and prepare monthly report on guaranteed cash flow.
• Review monthly foreign exchange gains and losses reports submitted by divisions. Contact territory and division controllers or finance directors to discuss reports.
2. Oversee consolidation of international cash balances and cash flow forecasts for use in managing month-end cash balances for 26 territories:
• Contact international territory controllers weekly to track collection and disbursement activities.
• Coordinate with the controllers on royalty remittance.
• Assimilate information gathered from internal and external sources (i.e. periodicals, bank economists, balance sheet and production cash flow) and present hedging recommendations to senior management.
• In conjunction with cash balance management, provide guidance on acceptable investment instruments and financial institutions.
3. Determine Sony Policies compliance and obtain Sony Tokyo approvals as needed:
• In conjunction with SPE's Compliance group and Corporate Audit, advise business units on policy compliances as to financing transactions or Treasury related operations.
• Obtain Sony Tokyo approval through Regional Finance Center, as needed.
• Monitor SPE's overall compliance with Sony's Finance Policy and take steps to ensure compliance.
4. Facilitate and/or assist business units with financings:
• Facilitate financing needs for productions, i.e. negative pick-up financing.
• Identify financial institutions and manage interest rate risks.
• Determine financing needs for international territories on an annual and ad-hoc basis. Act as liaison with banks and territories to evaluate and negotiate key terms and conditions for bank facilities (i.e. pricing, credit enhancement and covenants).
• Evaluate and execute tax-advantaged financing proposals such as UK sale/leasebacks.
• Maintain records on external financings and SGTS provided credit enhancements.
5. Manage company's equipment leasing program:
• Determine the equipment usage with project leaders.
• Negotiate with leasing companies.
• Perform lease vs. buy and EVA analysis.
6. Perform and evaluate financial analysis for real estate transactions. Transactions include lease, purchase and sale of office and warehouse properties. Determine the transaction objectives with senior management and analyze P&L and EVA.
7. Perform special projects as needed.
Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years experience in foreign exchange and hedging processes. Requires relevant experience in international treasury and/or forex at a financial institution.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred. Strong financial analysis skills.
• Proficiency with Bloomberg, FXpress, and/or other treasury workstations and banking systems a significant plus.
• Knowledge of working capital drivers and business cash flow for forecasting responsibilities.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate with all levels within the organization.
• Intermediate skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Self-starter and attention to detail a must.
• Ability to prioritize projects, train staff, and work under pressure
