Cost Accountant
SENIOR COST ACCOUNTANT
Metaldyne is a leading global designer and supplier of low cost, high quality metal-based components, assemblies and modules for the automotive industry. We currently have an excellent opportunity available for a Cost Accountant at our Hamburg, MI Engine Products Facility.
The Cost Accountant works with the Plant Controller to ensure accurate, timely financial statements. Includes monthly standard cost edits, correcting journal entries, and other miscellaneous journal entries as determined. Maintain standard cost system to ensure inventory accuracy. Maintain accurate bills of material and labor routings. Ensure that labor is reported accurately in conformance with established routings. Conduct periodic bill of material and routing audits. Monitor changes in inventory monthly to detect inventory problems. Analyze current burden rates. Assist with development of overhead allocation by operation/dept. Assist quoting with required financial modeling. (NPV, IRR, and Payback) Analyze monthly financial statements and cost reports. Investigate significant variances against standard, plan and forecast. Summarize key findings and report to Plant Controller and to Plant Manager. Assist Plant Controller to develop monthly forecasts. Provide analytical support to allow Plant Manager to understand financial impact of various options. Assist Plant Controller in developing annual profit plan, capital plan, and long range plan for the plant. Prepare product line P & L statements. Track steel recovery by customer and part number. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, working knowledge of QAD manufacturing system, minimum of 4-6 years experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment, attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
