Controller

The HON Florence, Alabama facility currently has an opening for a Controller.  This is a salaried exempt position, which reports to the Vice President/General Manager, Florence.

 

Description of Major Duties:

 
Provides financial leadership and support
Team player and active participant in facility projects and RCI’s.
Provides strategic financial direction to the Florence team.
Provides financial guidance to Management to aid in making sound business decisions to support The HON Company’s profitable vision.
Administers and interprets Accounting policies to facility personnel.
Supervision of Plant Accounting staff.
Complies with Corporate Accounting policies that are directed by GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Completion and analytical guidance on production reports and statistical statements.
Development and implementation of location cost standards
Responsible for the accuracy of the standard cost of location products
Responsible for Root Cause analysis and corrective action follow-up on plant performance versus standard cost of the products
Responsible for maintaining manufacturing ledgers, cost accounting activities and the preparation of Plant financial and other control reports. 
Responsible for overseeing disbursement of plant funds, Accounts Payable, raw material and finished goods inventory, timekeeping operations and payroll for the location.
Primary facilitator with both internal and external auditors pertaining to financial matters.
Prepares financial and statistical analysis for special projects.
Prepares and directs the capital and financial operating budget for the plant.



Minimum Educational Requirements:  BS/BA in Accounting required.  CMA, CPA or MBA preferred. 

 

Major Experience Required:
8-10 years experience in management
Track record of increasing accounting responsibilities in a manufacturing environment.
Proven analytical ability with specific financial positions focused on business analysis
Strong presentation skills to facilitate performing financial presentations to senior company management.
Budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning experience is required.
Manufacturing experience is necessary. 
JD Edwards’s financial or similar ledger experience preferred.
High integrity, strong work ethic and ability to think creatively
Knowledge of GAAP and audit procedures
Proven ability to eliminate non-value added work through establishment of process and metrics to drive improvement
Excellent verbal and written communication, organization and problem solving skills as well as ability to communicate to all levels of the organization and implement timely action plans
Superior leadership skills including strong interpersonal skills, superior teamwork and team development, skilled in conflict/management and getting things done through others
