Accounting Manager

Job Description Summary:

This position is responsible for the preparation and statutory compliance for two U.S. insurance carriers. Duties will include but not be limited to: Prepare statutory financial statements in accordance with NAIC Codification and state proscribed and permitted practicesPrepare statutory filings for two insurance companies including, but not limited to Quarterly Statements, Annual Statements, Insurance Expense Exhibits, Management Discussion and Analysis, Risk Based CapitalPrepare financial information/schedules and assist outside auditors statutory Audited Financial StatementsPrepare Combined Annual Statement and Combined Insurance Expense ExhibitPreparation of all supporting workpapers related to Annual and Quarterly Statement filingsInterface with all departments to ensure proper data capture to comply with requirements for annual and quarterly filingsEnsure that all filing requirements are met on a state by state basis.Supervise Premium Tax Accountant to ensure that all premium taxes are filed accurately and paid timelyResearch complex statutory accounting issues to ensure compliance with the NAIC Accounting Practices and Procedures Manual and state proscribed and permitted practicesPrepare Supplemental Exhibits such as New York Supplement and California Schedule PReview, file and pay federal and state income tax returns, extensions and prepayments and assist outside accountants to capture information needed to ensure the filing of timely and accurate returnsElectronic filings with NAIC, A.M. Best, ISO and Washington statePrepare and filing of miscellaneous data calls requesting annual statement line of businessAssist with software upload of state page data into Premium Pro softwarePrepare capital projections and proforma financial statements as neededInterface with and prepare schedules for state insurance examiners during financial and market conduct exams Prepare quarterly tax accrual on a GAAP/STAT basis

 

Qualifications:Five to eight years experience preparing Annual and Quarterly Statements INSURANCE INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE REQUIREDExperience with calculating income taxes on a GAAP/STAT basis and SSAP 10 compliance requiredExcellent organizational skills with a commitment to meeting monthly, quarterly and annual filing deadlinesMust be able to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of managementAbility to work independently and as a member of a team A proven ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and work overtime when required College degree with accounting concentration a mustOvertime during January and February required
