Accounting Manager

Accounting Manager Description: Would you like a wonderful opportunity to work for a leading-edge manufacturer of machinery, molds? This Valencia company is seeking an Accounting Manager who will be responsible for planning and organizing the activities of the accounting operation for this company. This position reports to the Controller. This is a 4 week to 8 week assignment with a possibility of going Temp to Hire with the right candidate. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for the following: preparing period-end financial statements, support schedules, work-papers, posting journal entries, and performing other period-end functions. Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts each period. Budget-to-actual variance analysis and preparation of key financial ratios and trends. Prepare and submit monthly sales tax returns. Generate numerous excel worksheets for use by management, product managers and others. Work intimately with members of the accounting, purchasing, logistics and production, credit, sales, and marketing departments, to resolve issues. Prepare the daily cash report. Perform and assist in the analysis of accounting related transactions. Take a primary role in the preparation of budget worksheets, collaboration with all levels of personnel, and input of provided budgeted numbers. Prepare and analyze forecasts. Prepare cash flow statements and cash flow forecasts. Prepare quarterly reports for the Board of Directors. Initiate inter-company fund transfers and wire payments to vendors as requested. Monitor and reconcile inter-company activity. Maintain current instructions on all tasks performed. Supervise G/L, A/P, and payroll functions. Take an active role in year-end physical inventory counts. Participate in audits: certified financials, pension plans, board of equalization, assessor’s office. Manage fixed asset system. Special projects and ad hoc analysis as assigned. Assist the Controller to maintain and implement GAAP accounting policies, internal controls and procedures, monitor compliance, and hire, train, and supervise accounting staff, so as to maintain a proper balance between operating efficiencies and internal control. Capable of making recommendations for improvement. Exploit the accounting function within the organization through planning, communicating, leading, and becoming an internal consultant and business partner.
